Position Summary:
This position is in charge of coordinating all laboratory supplies and equipment purchases for Cirrus. Will also help direct the safety and health-related policies and programs for compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities:
Negotiates and administers contracts or purchasing terms with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives. Researches products, compares/negotiate prices, and arranges for purchase of goods and services necessary for efficient operation of the organization. Compiles competitive quotes for all major purchases. Acts as a resource to the organization to provide information regarding lab supplies and equipment.. Helps develop, organize and/or conduct training for occupational health & safety related policies and programs that are deemed necessary to meet regulatory compliance guidelines or are identified as best practices to promote company safety and health initiatives. Assists in identifying and maintains required documentation and serve as facility point-of-contact for all safety & health issues and to ensure continued compliance with OSHA and state regulations and actively respond to facility issues, concerns or compliance needs. Maintains Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on hazardous materials & chemicals used in the workplace and advise managers and employees on the regulations regarding the proper use and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals. Work with the Cirrus Safety Committee and participate in handling the day-to-day departmental safety issues for their respective groups.

Qualifications:
The Purchasing Agent/Safety Specialist will have at least a high school diploma, preferably some college education and 2-3 years relevant laboratory, safety and/or purchasing work experience, preferably within the CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotech industry dealing with hazardous chemicals & materials, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
